Some racing games are terrible at throwing yellow flags early enough for folks to be alerted to issues around blind corners or crests of a hill. This can be demonstrated by watching as relatives rapidly decrease while in T3 of Zandvort in iRacing, but no yellow flag is thrown until we're pretty close to the crash further up the straight.
The feature would use the change in relatives to display a visual queue that warns the driver of a "situation" ahead. The initial concept of this could be made fairly simply using just the relative timings. The logic could be something like "If the change in relative for an on-track car is close to the change in system time, then that car is probably stopped".
Beyond that, it would likely need some tuning. For example, it would only really be needed if a car is moving at a high-ish speed. Also, the race starts, pit exits, and race ends might (or might not) give unexpected results. Would be interesting to experiment with either way.
